Carrier Transicold recently launched a new program aimed at replacing transport refrigeration units for fleets, helping to extend trailer lifespan and reduce replacement costs.

The program, named "Fleet Refresh," is handled by company dealers for equipment removal and installation, and according to a press release, pairs the new equipment with the Lynx Fleet telematics system and Carrier Transicold's BluEdge monitoring and predictive analytics services.

The press release stated: "Rising trailer acquisition costs and extended lead times are prompting many refrigerated fleets to seek alternatives beyond traditional equipment replacement cycles. Fleet Refresh is designed for fleets looking to extend the life of their existing trailer assets while upgrading aging refrigeration equipment."

The program applies to Carrier Transicold's transport refrigeration unit (TRU) models, including its X4 series and Vector series.

This initiative continues the company's tradition of innovation. According to its website, in 1968, the company developed the first front-wall refrigeration unit for containers, and then in 1970, through an acquisition, formed the Carrier Transicold brand. In 2010, the company launched its first container unit using natural refrigerants.

Currently, fleets remain cautious about trailer orders. ACT Research recently noted that order cancellations remain high, and because "freight demand remains uneven," trucking companies have not broadly shifted toward expanding trailer purchases.

Nevertheless, trailer orders have surged in recent months, especially in May, with a year-over-year increase of 249%. FTR Transportation Intelligence indicated that regulatory policy changes, including tariff adjustments by the Trump administration under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, may be putting pressure on the market.
