PAMT Reports $10.4M Operating Loss in Q2, Seventh Consecutive Quarter in Red
PAMT, parent of P.A.M. Transport, reported a $10.4 million operating loss for Q2, its seventh consecutive quarter of operating losses. The company also posted a consolidated net loss of $7.4 million, an improvement from Q1 and year over year. CEO Lance Stewart cited ongoing industry constraints on driver supply and further rate correction opportunities. Operational improvements include a 12.8% YoY increase in miles per truck per day and reduced empty miles. A new CFO, Daniel Kleine, was appointed effective July 30.

PAMT, the parent company of P.A.M. Transport, reported a second-quarter operating loss of $10.4 million, marking its seventh consecutive quarter of operating losses. The Tontitown, Arkansas-headquartered carrier's performance represents a step back from a nearly breakeven first quarter.
“As industry dynamics continue to constrain driver supply, we believe opportunities for further rate correction remain, and we have achieved additional progress through the date of this release,” said President and CEO Lance Stewart in the earnings release.
Despite the operating loss, the company reported a consolidated net loss of $7.4 million, an improvement from both the first quarter and the same period last year. The last time PAMT posted operating income was in Q3 2024.
PAMT attributed several operational improvements to its turnaround efforts, including a 12.8% year-over-year increase in miles per truck per day, reduced exposure to empty miles, and a “meaningful sequential increase in rate per total mile,” according to the release. The company also reduced underutilized equipment as part of network improvements. Average company driver trucks totaled 1,540, down from 1,551 sequentially and 1,579 year over year.
Market fundamentals are showing encouraging signs, with federal policies tightening capacity through CDL school crackdowns, non-domiciled CDL revisions, and English language proficiency enforcement, trucking executives say.
Additionally, PAMT announced the promotion of Daniel Kleine to Chief Financial Officer, effective July 30.
