"The EPA's decision to provide manufacturers with flexibility to pause these inducements—and to eliminate problematic sensors altogether by monitoring trucks' actual emissions—is a pragmatic solution that reflects how these systems perform in the real world," Kelly said.
Todd Spencer, President of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA), echoed similar views.
"Small business truckers have been plagued for years by defective diesel exhaust fluid systems, facing unexpected downtime and costly repairs that unnecessarily take trucks out of service. These are serious operational and safety issues," Spencer said in an emailed statement. "We thank EPA Administrator Zeldin for listening to the concerns of American truckers and issuing common-sense guidance that keeps our supply chain moving."
