XPO Appoints Jonas Svedlund as New Chief Legal Officer
XPO has appointed Jonas Svedlund as Chief Legal Officer, effective immediately. Svedlund brings extensive legal experience, having worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific and General Electric. Former Chief Legal Officer Wendy Cassity resigned in June for personal reasons.
XPO issued a press release on August 10 announcing the appointment of Jonas Svedlund as Chief Legal Officer, effective immediately. Svedlund most recently served as Associate General Counsel at Thermo Fisher Scientific, responsible for corporate and commercial legal matters. Previously, he held multiple executive positions at General Electric, including General Counsel for two separate business units.
XPO Chairman and CEO Mario Harik said in a statement that Svedlund is an experienced executive who will help the company advance its strategic priorities. Harik stated in the press release: "He possesses deep legal expertise and has demonstrated an outstanding ability to collaborate with leaders at all levels of the organization."
Svedlund succeeds Wendy Cassity. According to Cassity's LinkedIn profile, she served as XPO's Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary from March 2023 to June 2026. According to a regulatory filing, Cassity notified the company in May that she would resign for personal reasons around June 18.
Additionally, the less-than-truckload carrier also appointed Michael Keenland to its board of directors last month. Keenland, currently the non-executive chairman of United Rentals, was appointed effective immediately, expanding the company's board to eight members.
